About the Author

Andrew Rapp was raised in southern Colorado, where the quail run thick and wild. He received his BA from Stanford University in 1996 and began his career in journalism, serving as Editor-In-Chief of LGBT and community newspapers in Raleigh, North Carolina and Boston, Massachusetts, and later as a writer and photographer for Boston Magazine and The Boston Globe.

Expanding on his interest in photography, in 2005 Andrew founded Thoma Studios, an advertising production company serving Fortune 100 healthcare brands. A sister company, Togg!e, was founded in 2008 to serve apparel and consumer goods brands. In 2015, Rapp ended both businesses to pursue his own creative endeavors.

Rapp trained and licensed as a hairstylist to support his artistic work, but when the COVID pandemic began, he took a break from styling to attend a post-grad program in 3D animation at the Gnomon School of VFX in Hollywood, CA. There he tried drawing for the first time and found the ideal medium for his imagination. Rather than completing a graduate reel, he returned to hair styling and began work on the Tales of Quails series.
